OVERVIEW:

The Vice President of Operations (VPO) serves as the liaison between the Post-Acute facilities and the regional leadership. The VPO, under the direction of the Executive Vice President (EVP), is responsible for operational performance of the facilities in their assigned region. The VPO's specific focus is to ensure client and TeamHealth expectations are met. The VPO works in a paired leadership model with the Regional Medical Director (RMD.) The VPO is the primary TeamHealth contact with the facility's administrative leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides management and support for assigned contracts
  • Adheres to Clients for Life (CFL) philosophy and ensures standards of documentation are maintained in Client Retention Management (CRM) database; Establishes and maintains positive relationships with client Web-of-Influence (WOI) members in accordance with CFL standards
  • Works to achieve client and TeamHealth operating metric goals
  • Collaborates with leaders and staff of the operational service centers to achieve optimal contract performance. These departments include, but are not limited to: recruiting, scheduling, credentialing, payroll, risk management, documentation education, chart flow, provider enrollment, PSO, compliance, and scribes
  • Contributes to development of annual budgets and is responsible for ongoing management of contracts to meet budget; Participates in regional Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR) and quarterly practice review as directed by senior management. Responsible for implementing recommendations from quarterly practice reviews
  • Supports and assists the RMD in onboarding of Clinical Leaders. Ensures that there is an onboarding process and tools in place to orient new providers. May participate in onboarding as needed
  • Supports and assists the RMD in coaching Clinical Leaders and providers
  • Participate and support recruiting efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Action-oriented with an understanding for process. “Can do” attitude. Hands on
  • Demonstrates that he/she has the analytical problem-solving skills necessary to help a healthcare system accomplish its mission
  • Will be able to point to examples of having delivered outstanding results in quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • A good business sense; able to link quality care and patient safety to improved hospital financial performance

  • Ideally the candidate will not only have created the vision within his/her current function, but also raised broader issues, influencing overall organizational strategy, thereby contributing to the larger planning process and helping shape the future of the entire organization

  • Must be focused on the development of people including strong skills in mentoring, coaching, building effective teams, selecting physician management talent, and building and growing skill sets

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Organizational Management, or other relevant field of study or equivalent professional experience
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years related experience in provider or clinical management with proven competency in metric driven operations including process improvement preferred
  • Possesses superb communication skills with exceptional listening skills and is extremely comfortable expressing ideas and representing the organization in both formal and informal settings
  • Excellent strategic planning skills and knowledge, as well as a track record in facilitating an annual strategic planning process that engages the key stakeholders of the organization
  • A track record which points to the capability to operate effectively and flexibly in an evolving organizational model where the executive will need to sponsor initiatives in leading change, in effectively managing change, and in working within a highly skilled senior executive team
  • A highly self-motivated, highly energetic executive with an internal sense of direction that demonstrates initiative and achieves results within a team environment
  • Advanced proficiency in various computer applications
