York Technical College seeks an innovative and experienced Vice President for Academic Affairs to lead the College's academic operations as Chief Academic Officer. Reporting to the President, the Vice President will oversee academic programs, faculty development, and student success initiatives, while ensuring academic quality and alignment with the College's mission and strategic goals. This executive role also serves on the College's Executive Leadership Team and represents the academic division in internal and external partnerships.
The Vice President will perform the following functions:
Academic Leadership: As York Technical College's Chief Academic Officer, plays a critical role in shaping the academic direction and success of the College by developing and executing the College's academic success plan, providing executive leadership to the College's deans, academic administration, and library/academic support services. Directs the development and implementation of new academic programs, flexible academic scheduling focused on student needs, academic procedures to maintain academic quality and relevance, and cross-college efforts to improve student success. Fosters a supportive and accountable academic environment promoting faculty excellence and student access to faculty, academic advising, coaching, and library services. Ensures a collaborative environment that provides a seamless student experience. Manages budgets and resources for academic programs, faculty hiring and development, and support services, aligning with the College's strategic goals. Represents the College in the community and builds partnerships with local entities.Curriculum Development and Assessment: Ensures curricula remain relevant, flexible, progressive, and continuously improving. Aligns academic programs and credentials with industry needs, student requirements, and accreditation standards. Maintains a future-focused, community-relevant set of programs. Certifies faculty credentials meet standards.Strategic Direction for Service Excellence: Provides oversight for college-wide initiatives to enhance student success, improve academic offerings, and promote innovation. Leads data-informed decision-making and fosters a culture of excellence.Collegewide Leadership: Serves on the Executive Leadership Team, Crisis Management Team, and other committees as directed by the President. Acts as the President's designee when needed.Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in education, higher education administration, business administration, or a related field.
- At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, focusing on academic affairs.
- Earned Doctorate.
- Knowledge of academic leadership principles, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of pedagogical approaches, curriculum development, and assessment trends.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide various departments collaboratively.
- Experience with budgeting and resource management in an academic setting.
- Familiarity with community engagement and partnership strategies.
- Strategic planning and project management skills for college-wide initiatives.
- Ability to allocate resources effectively to support academic programs and services.
- Flexibility and adaptability to navigate complex challenges and perform duties as assigned.
