Responsibilities
- Evaluate the work/educational history, interests, aptitude, and physical skills of the persons served to determine vocational potential and training needs. Develop vocational rehabilitation treatment plans with the interdisciplinary team based on evaluations and client goals.
- Administer direct treatment utilizing vocational rehabilitation techniques, creating programs to build skills for vocational pursuits.
- Design pre-vocational programs to assess current skills, abilities, and interests, overseeing their implementation.
- Develop community reintegration activities to support vocational needs during physical activities, helping clients understand and manage their limitations.
- Provide training to clients and involved staff, analyzing and documenting training outcomes.
- Conduct thorough evaluations, set measurable objectives, and adjust treatments to maximize results.
- Apply professional knowledge in accordance with clinical standards to facilitate problem resolution and achieve client goals.
- Report progress to the rehabilitation team, clients, and families.
- Observe, document, and report changes in client condition to the Clinical Coordinator and team members.
- Maintain documentation of treatment progress and participate in team meetings and educational sessions.
- Develop, teach, and assess treatment plans, guiding rehabilitation staff and using appropriate methods, including discharge planning.
- Maintain confidentiality and share information only when appropriate and in the best interest of the client.
- Contribute to program evaluation and improvement efforts.
- Participate in staff development and continuing education to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet client and program needs.
Qualifications
- Must successfully complete all required pre-employment evaluations and possess good organizational and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, standing, and bending, with or without accommodations.
- Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or equivalent, with at least two years of vocational counseling experience with neurological impairments.
- Maintain professional licensure and/or certification as required by the state.
- Effective communication skills are essential.
