This position generally involves monitoring contractor work to ensure quality control and contract compliance on Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) projects. Responsibilities include inspecting facility, building, roadway, structure, and transportation construction or renovation projects of moderate to considerable complexity, often involving traffic control, environmental concerns, and coordination with property owners, utility companies, and government agencies.

The Construction Inspector will coordinate construction phases, review plans, monitor contractor operations, conduct measurements and materials testing, maintain comprehensive project records, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including EEO and labor requirements. The role requires frequent communication with project engineers, contractors, local authorities, utility companies, and the public to resolve issues and coordinate activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review plans and specifications for active contracts.
• Oversee daily contractor operations to ensure adherence to plans.
• Perform measurements, materials testing, and prepare detailed reports.
• Coordinate with project team and external agencies.
• Maintain project documentation and records.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED, Associate's Degree in Construction Technology preferred.
• 0-7 years of related experience, with certification in construction materials testing.
• Construction-related certifications (asphalt, soil, concrete, etc.) preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks.
• Strong communication, organizational, and technical skills.

Compensation: Estimated at $21.53/hr to $33.45/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
