Job Description :

The Parks Department is seeking a qualified Golf Pro Shop Manager. The ideal candidate has experience managing an 18-hole golf course and is familiar with the golf industry in Southwest Missouri. This position's primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate, and direct golf programs, associated activities, and Pro Shop management.

About Horton Smith Golf Course:

Horton Smith Golf Course is named for two-time Masters winner and Greene County native Horton Smith, with 18 holes, 6,312 yards, and par 70. The course features a driving range, two practice greens, and a fully stocked Pro Shop.

About the Department:

The Springfield-Greene County Park Department strives to provide the very best in parks and recreation facilities, programs, events, and services to our community. We aim to positively impact the overall quality of life, health, environmental, social, and economic aspects for residents and visitors alike.

The Park Board manages 3,200 acres and 103 sites, including neighborhood playgrounds, multi-use recreational facilities, natural resource areas, four golf courses, three family centers, a zoo, a farm park, botanical gardens, sports and athletic complexes, indoor aquatics centers, outdoor swimming pools, School-Park sites, and over 70 miles of Greenways and recreational trails.

Experience, Education, and Training:

  • Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field;
  • And two years of experience in developing and managing golf programs;

OR

  • Directly related experience in developing and supervising in related program areas may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Licensing/Certification:

  • Professional Golf Association (PGA) certification is strongly preferred.
