About the Role:

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Loop, you'll help turn advanced data capabilities into products that make it easier for merchants to run and grow their businesses. You'll collaborate closely with the rest of the Data team, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to explore ideas, prototype solutions, and ship machine learning systems that improve merchants' workflows, shopper experiences, and Loop's products. Your work will support existing models or help design new solutions, unlocking value for merchants at critical moments. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll develop your skills while contributing to Loop's product future.

Our Blended Work Environment:

At Loop, we work from our HQ in Columbus, OH, or one of our Hub or Secluded locations, and are distributed across the US, select Canadian provinces, and the UK. We're looking for someone to join us in Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; or Los Angeles, CA.

Our Tech Stack:

For ML development and deployment, we use AWS ML ecosystem, Airflow, Kubernetes, FastAPI, and other tools. Our data infrastructure includes Fivetran, dbt, Snowflake, Hex, Secoda, and GoodData.

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope ML use cases, refine model requirements, and support feature delivery that benefits merchants.
• Support the development and deployment of ML solutions, including model training, evaluation, and iteration.
• Design and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure supporting scalable ML systems.
• Contribute to responsible ML practices, tools, and processes at Loop.
• Engage with the broader ML community to grow your skills and bring new ideas.

Your Experience:

• 5–8 years since completing undergraduate studies; advanced degrees or equivalent experience are welcome.
• 2-3 years of experience as an ML engineer, data scientist, or similar in a production environment.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with ML libraries like Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Strong understanding of classical ML techniques and deep learning frameworks.
• Experience deploying models into production and monitoring performance.
• Ability to write production-quality code and query data with SQL.
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Interest in ethical ML practices and building fair, interpretable systems.

Nice-to-have Experience:

• Open-source ML contributions.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and dbt.
