JOB PURPOSE

Prospect Park Alliance seeks a dynamic fundraiser with a passion for building impactful partnerships and creating unforgettable events. Reporting directly to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Institutional Giving + Events is the driver of all institutional fundraising initiatives, securing approximately $2.8 million annually from foundations, corporations, and government entities. In addition, they lead the planning and execution of high-profile events, including the annual gala and year-round donor cultivation activities. The Director manages and mentors the Events Manager and the Manager of Institutional Giving, providing them with the support and guidance to be effective in their roles. This position is a senior member of the Development team and plays a key role in raising funding for the five-year strategic plan, which seeks to amplify the Alliance's capacity to enrich neighboring communities, meaningfully address park operations, and secure the financial future of the park.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY JOB OUTCOMES

Leadership, Strategy & Planning

  • Partner with and support the Chief Advancement Officer in planning and setting the overall annual strategy, performance goals, and fundraising priorities for institutional partners.
  • Lead, manage, and inspire direct report(s), ensuring their activities are aligned with overall division and departmental goals. Provide guidance and coaching on annual professional development goals, and ensure the team is supported to be maximally effective in their roles.
  • Provide general guidance and thought leadership on Department-wide development strategy, messaging, campaigns, events, annual goals/KPIs, board stewardship, and general operations.
  • Implement and maintain a project management structure that enables real-time reporting on the Department's overall performance and progress toward achieving target revenue goals, enables organized outreach and tracking, and facilitates the growth and advancement of development functions.
  • Act as a representative for the department when collaborating with other internal departments across the organization.
  • Continue to refine and institute processes and systems to build, manage, and enhance advanced fundraising capability in the areas of events, event sponsorship, campaigns, institutional grants, gift processing and acknowledgment, and other development support functions.
  • Support Board Executive and Development committees, leveraging the subject matter expertise and relationships of the board to advance our fundraising goals

Institutional Giving: Foundation, Corporate & Government Partners

  • Oversee the financial success and execution of all institutional giving efforts, including identifying and cultivating new prospects and stewarding existing relationships to reach annual fundraising goals.
  • Partner with the President and Chief Advancement Officer to steward and correspond with institutional donors. Actively pitch to institutional funders and assist in prospect research when necessary.
  • Oversee the Corporate Partnership Program by identifying, cultivating, and securing corporate sponsorships, grants, or volunteer opportunities, including collaborating with external departments to determine and execute projects.
  • Work closely with senior program staff to shape programs that appeal to funders and further the Alliance's mission and strategic plan. Coordinate with program staff for site visits as needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance of an accurate grants calendar, tracking grant deliverables, and timelines for government and private grant-making entities. Manage a successful workflow across Finance, Program, and Capital teams to create successful grant narratives and budget proposals, and reports.
  • Review all grant proposals and budgets; draft and finalize proposals as necessary.
  • Project manage all government grants from registration through contract completion. Coordinate with relevant team members to provide invoices and budget reports.
  • Coordinate with the Communications and External Relations team, and a consultant lobbyist as needed, for the upcoming fiscal year's prospecting strategy.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, business administration, social work or a relevant discipline
  • Possess a minimum of 7 - 10 years' experience in non-profit development and fundraising
  • A minimum of five (5) years in a managerial or leadership role overseeing various functional areas in development and fundraising
  • Experience designing and implementing fundraising strategies, cultivating corporate sponsors, foundations, running events, and collaborating with Board Members across a broad range of fundraising streams and initiatives
  • A valid NYS Driver's License

COMPENSATION + BENEFITS

  • Job Grade: 3 (Mid-Level Managerial)
  • Potential Salary Range: $95,000 - 105,000 (annual gross earnings)
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
