Technical Engineering Director | Renewable Natural Gas
A national leader in renewable fuels and environmental services is seeking a Technical Engineering Director to lead the design, integration, and performance optimization of its advanced Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) systems. Backed by a major global infrastructure investor, the company is expanding rapidly and driving innovation across the U.S. clean energy sector.
As part of the Innovation and Transformation team, you will manage the full technology lifecycle, from feedstock and digestion through gas upgrading, emissions control, and compliance. This is a strategic role ideal for an engineer with deep domain knowledge and the ability to lead complex systems design and technical oversight across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and integrate emerging RNG and biogas technologies across active and planned projects
- Oversee design and implementation of anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, and pipeline injection
- Select and integrate digestate treatment systems including nutrient recovery and land application
- Conduct feedstock analysis, process modeling, and compliance risk assessments
- Provide technical leadership during project planning, commissioning, and operational phases
- Ensure all systems meet or exceed LCFS, RFS, EPA, and other environmental compliance frameworks
- Collaborate across development, EPC, and operations teams for seamless execution
- Build technical partnerships with utilities, regulators, and third-party providers
- Represent the company at technical meetings, conferences, and client presentations
Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of engineering experience, with direct involvement in RNG, biogas, or renewable energy systems
- Deep understanding of anaerobic digestion, gas purification, nutrient recovery, and emissions systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering projects from concept to operations
- Familiarity with U.S. regulatory programs such as LCFS, RFS, EPA standards, and permitting processes
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and partners
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
