Facility Supervisor (Maintenance)
The primary functions of the Facility Supervisor are to plan and supervise all custodial work necessary to ensure a clean, attractive, and safe facility. This position oversees custodial operations and directly manages all custodial employees according to current labor conditions and needs. The role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure and be decisive, and the ability to motivate employees. The Facility Supervisor reports directly to the General Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff
- Coordinate the duties of custodial and janitorial staff and perform cleaning tasks as assigned
- Operate systems such as HVAC, security alarms, fire alarms, lighting, and firefighting equipment
- Prepare the facility for programs and events as required
- Maintain knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Manage and monitor custodial supplies and equipment; keep accurate records
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and reconcile invoices
- Inspect equipment and supply deliveries; communicate with vendors
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment
- Coordinate with other managers as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage custodial staff
- Ensure overall cleanliness of the facility
- Conduct interviews, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and discipline
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent; or 6 months to 1 year related experience/training
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic math skills and ability to apply algebra and geometry
- Ability to follow instructions and solve problems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and facility management software
Physical Demands
Regularly stand and walk; frequently handle objects up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift more than 100 pounds; specific vision abilities required.
Work Environment
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, outdoor conditions, and noise levels that are moderate to loud. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
