An asset-based trucking company is seeking the highest performing Operations Manager in the Canton, OH area. We offer competitive compensation based on experience, with opportunities for advancement. We are looking for the best to lead and manage our team of professional truck drivers from our Canton location. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, integrity, and initiative. They will have experience in leading and managing a driver team to maximize service and safety performance. Our company values safety and service, maintains consistent business levels, and operates late model equipment. All company drivers on a dedicated account are home daily.

Summary:

Manage driver team to ensure timely pick-up and delivery in the safest manner, reporting to the Region Manager. Use our systems to receive customer orders, communicate dispatch information, and keep customers informed of any challenges impacting service. Work with drivers to optimize performance in MPG, idle time efficiency, and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop meaningful relationships with drivers to meet their needs.
  • Schedule and assign loads efficiently.
  • Update daily activities in dispatch system (TMW).
  • Verify equipment availability with the shop.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, and terminal management.
  • Promote safety through the Target Zero program.
  • Maintain positive relations with drivers, staff, supervisors, and customers.
  • Review and maintain driver electronic logs.
  • Schedule equipment for PM and DOT tests and inspections.
  • Process driver paperwork accurately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Must be a team player and strong leader with excellent communication skills. Ability to organize, direct, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Intermediate PC, internet, email, and computer skills required. Experience with TMW, TMT, Samsara, or similar electronic logging systems is a plus.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma required; 2-4 year college degree or 3-5+ years related experience preferred. Knowledge of tanker industry operations, equipment utilization, DOT regulations, and experience with equipment allocation is essential.

Work Environment:

Fast-paced transportation terminal setting.

Work Hours and Availability:

Typically 45-50 hours per week at the office or terminal. Must be available and on call during off-duty hours. Off most weekends but available for emergencies.

Performance Standards:

  • Ensure deliveries are scheduled and made on time.
  • Work effectively individually and as part of a team.
  • Maintain positive driver relations.
  • Adhere 100% to safety and legal regulations.
  • Track, maintain, and report equipment status.
  • Complete all reports accurately and timely.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
