Summary

The Accounting Manager oversees the Accounting Department, providing leadership, strategic management, and acting as the primary liaison with the CFO. Responsibilities include directing daily activities, ensuring timely financial reporting, process optimization, and supporting company values. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical, technological, and reporting skills.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of five accounting professionals.
  • Oversee cash management, accounts payable, and receivable accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Review account reconciliations.
  • Implement process improvements using technology, including AI tools.
  • Develop financial reporting tools and analytics.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and controls.
  • Manage staff schedules and meetings.
  • Assist with compliance documents and disbursements.
  • Communicate regularly with the CFO.
  • Maintain and update SOPs for key functions.
  • Perform complex calculations and reconciliations.
  • Assist with data analysis and financial presentations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, industry experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership in managing accounting teams.

Skills

  • Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Experience with advanced accounting software and platforms.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Software Proficiency

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAGE 300, Deltek Vision).
  • Familiarity with expense management tools (e.g., SAP Concur).
  • Document management software (e.g., Revver).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical tools.
