The Crime Victims Center (CVC) is the leading provider of comprehensive trauma-informed victim support services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, all violent crime, and elderly, minor, and disabled victims of property crime in Suffolk County.We are the Crime Victim Center for the Suffolk County Police Department and work with Federal crime victims as well. The CVC also provides Rape Crisis Counselor (RCC) response and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) services for acute sexual assault victims presenting in emergency departments.If you have a proven track record of providing crime victim services to vulnerable populations and want to help affect significant changes in people's lives, then this position is for you. Retired law enforcement are encouraged to apply.This position is similar to the CVC crime victim advocate position but has supervisory and management responsibilities. This is an exempt position. Educational and Other Requirements Master's Degree required. Preferably social work degree or retired law enforcement. Organized, task-oriented, and excellent communication skills. Willingness to learn and be part of a team. Job Description Provide case management services, advocacy with a broad range of systems, and support to sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking victims, and other victims of violent crime. Assign cases and manage advocacy unit caseload and advocate tools to ensure the delivery of comprehensive trauma-informed services. Coordiate advocate training and train new staff. Provide case coordination, maintaining an overview of case status and progress of all involved systems/parties. Identify client needs, locate related resources, and help clients in accessing assistance. Provide information on victim rights and resources, orient clients to nature and purpose of involved systems as it applies to client's situation, assist clients in filing compensation claims.- Rape Crisis Response to hospital ED maximum 2x per week. Accompaniment of clients to court, emergency medical care, meetings with local and federal law enforcement and prosecutors, initial appointments for mental health or substance abuse treatment, etc. Collaborate with the OVS Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and the NY Civil Legal Network. Maintain statistical records and case notes.- We're a not-for-profit that invests in providing our team great vacation and holiday time and we tidy up our own space. MUST have PUBLIC SPEAKING EXPERIENCE. Other duties as assigned by Program Director and or Executive Staff.Criminal justice and social services experience required. All agency advocates provide crisis intervention, courtroom and medical accompaniment, legal and medical referrals and social service referrals. You will work with child and adult victims and their non-offending family members. You will be required to complete agency training certifying you as a rape crisis counselor.The candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented and be a team player.
