This position will be located at the Department of Corrections, Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.Position SummaryThis position provides expertise and leadership in the employment relations and personnel functions of the Institution. Responsibilities of this position include administration and coordination of employment relations, position classification, staffing, compensation, payroll and benefits, supervisory training, equal employment opportunity, and other personnel related programs, as well as supervision of Human Resources (HR) staff.Salary InformationThis position is in pay schedule and range 81-04 at the entry level and 81-03 at the Advanced level, with a starting pay between $36.17/hour - $44.33/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. Job DetailsApplicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. Region 2 will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.NOTE: This position is eligible to work remotely up to 1 day per week.QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Performing Employee Relations functions (conducting or providing consultation on employee investigations, administering employee discipline, etc.)
- Performing FMLA related tasks (reviewing medical information to determine eligibility, determining potential for medical accommodations, etc.)
- Performing staffing and recruitment activities (posting jobs, coordinating interviews, compensation determination, etc.)
- Using a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) such as PeopleSoft, SAP, ADP, etc.
In Addition To The Above And In Order To Be Considered For The Advanced Level, Well Qualified Applicants Will Have Experience
- Coaching or advising management or supervisors on effective employee performance techniques (SMART goals, coaching, etc.) or strategies for managing employee/supervisor conflicts
- Performing supervision or lead-worker activities (managing staff, assigning, directing, and evaluating work, mentoring, hiring, etc.)
