Primary Purpose

Testing and Commissioning engineers are frontline field engineers responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting transmission and distribution protection and control systems within ComEd substations. This includes systems like protective relays, SCADA, automation, fiber-optic, power line carrier, and revenue metering. The role involves field testing, troubleshooting, creating commissioning plans, and supporting maintenance activities to improve system performance and capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support substation maintenance and contractor crews.
  • Coordinate with various departments to support daily work activities and outage planning.
  • Maintain engineering drawings and relay/SCADA databases.
  • Support safety culture and participate in emergency response during storms or outages.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or PE license.
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, standards, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and apply advanced engineering principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Leadership experience on critical projects.
