What we need

Symbotic is seeking a System Engineer to operate our system control center, ensuring critical issues are communicated effectively to cross-functional teams to optimize system performance. You will lead CI (continuous improvement) and troubleshooting projects by identifying root causes and collaborating with teams to meet performance standards.

What we do

The System Engineer is part of the Customer Operations team, responsible for managing daily operations of Symbotic's robotic material handling system. This team strives for operational excellence by partnering with onsite customers to ensure top-quality, safety, and system performance.

What you'll do

  • Monitor the health of automated adapters, vertical lifts, and robotic vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot complex system and operational issues.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to site teams and customers.
  • Document issues and collaborate with engineering teams on solutions.
  • Train and assist operators on system components and IT issues.
  • Backfill key onsite roles as needed.
  • Partner with customers and internal/external clients.
  • Support escalation processes for production-impacting problems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for warehouse automation.
  • Ensure safety protocols and OSHA compliance are met daily.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with automated systems.
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), robots (ABB), and programming languages such as SQL, Linux, Python.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics and electro-mechanical systems troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Desire to learn new equipment and assist team members.
  • High sense of urgency.

Our Environment

  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations.
  • Responsible for managing expenses and owning a credit card for reimbursements.
  • Physical requirements include walking, reaching, working at heights up to 45 feet, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Compliance with safety protocols, including PPE and fall protection, is mandatory.

The base salary for this position in Woodland, CA is $85,000 - $95,000, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and others. Compensation varies based on experience and skills.
