The Financial Case Manager is responsible, in partnership with the Administrator, for all resident-related financial management processes in the facility. This includes providing necessary financial information to applicants, referral sources, and families to support informed decisions about facility admission, while also educating them on payment expectations and policies.The Financial Case Manager ensures residents understand their financial entitlements, manages the collection of payments, monitors outstanding balances, and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local financial reporting obligations.Position Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and one year of full-time experience providing services to a dependent adult population; or an Associate's degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time experience providing services to a dependent adult population.
Position Requirements:
- Working knowledge of DOH regulations as they pertain to assisted living billing processes.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid, including eligibility, recertification processes, and handling Medicaid overages.
- Understanding of Social Security Administration (SSA), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and State Supplement Program (SSP), including how to apply for these benefits. Proficiency in completing necessary SSA forms and contacting SSA representatives when needed. Ability to interpret notices and communications from SSA, SSI, or SSP.
- Familiarity with PNA (Personal Needs Allowance) fund requirements and usage in compliance with NYS DOH regulations.
- Prior experience maintaining financial records and reconciling accounts.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and assessment skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple facilities as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist residents in applying for and maintaining eligibility for income entitlements, including SSI, SSP, SSA, Medicaid, and other supplemental benefits.
- Complete and submit all necessary forms to the Social Security Administration and follow up as needed.
- Interpret and communicate information from Social Security, SSI, and SSP notices to residents and families.
- Ensure the accurate distribution of PNA funds in compliance with DOH regulations.
- Educate new admissions on the rent process and monthly payment expectations.
- Monitor rent collection, ensure timely payments, and proactively communicate with residents about financial obligations.
- Build and maintain relationships with residents to address financial concerns or questions.
- Maintain and reconcile resident ledgers monthly.
- Track and record transactions for all representative payee accounts.
- Work collaboratively with billing, case management, and other departments to ensure financial coordination.
- Provide budgeting support to residents as needed.
