\n\nResponsibilities:
\nFunctions as a key member of the healthcare team using sound nursing judgment.
\nParticipates in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through focused assessments.
\nSeeks guidance from an RN or healthcare team when:
\nPatient needs exceed LPN scope of practice.
\nCare needs surpass LPN's knowledge or ability.
\nPatient condition deteriorates or changes significantly.
\nObtains supervision when performing new or unfamiliar procedures.
\nAdheres to UPMC policies, LPN Practice Guidelines, and State Practice Act.
\nProvides IV therapy within LPN scope of practice.
\nUses Relationship-Based Care to create a healing, patient-centered environment.
\nDevelops daily care plans and goals in partnership with patients.
\nEnsures thorough documentation to promote caregiver communication.
\nAligns daily work with professional, unit, and system goals for patient safety and quality.
\nBuilds caring relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
\nActively participates in unit activities and team collaboration.
\nSeeks feedback and participates in continuous professional improvement.
\nEngages in clinical learning opportunities and quality improvement initiatives.
\nCollaborates with healthcare team and patients to achieve optimal outcomes.

\nPrior LPN experience preferred
\nDemonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
\nStrong collaboration skills with healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure quality outcomes.
\nBuilds and maintains positive relationships with all levels of staff and patients.
\nAble to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment.
\nRequires mobility, manual dexterity, physical stamina (frequent walking, standing, lifting, positioning patients).
\nLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
\nActive LPN license in practicing state or compact agreement state.
\nIV Therapy Certification (if applicable, within 4 months of hire).
\nBasic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
\nNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (if required by unit).
\nAct 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
\nAct 34 Criminal Background Check.
\nAct 73 FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
\n*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
