Business Development Manager Finance And Tax

The Business Development Manager Finance and Tax is an integral part in Latham's Business Development (BD) team. This individual will leverage their marketing and business development expertise, along with their understanding of the competitive market landscape and knowledge of Latham's internal operations, to support the strategic planning and implementation of the Finance and Tax departments' goals and objectives. Additionally, they will build strong relationships with partners, counsels, and associates to establish themselves as a trusted advisor. This position is based in our New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of our Finance and Tax departments and their clients in New York in order to drive strategic priorities, including client engagement and relationship building
  • Providing research, analysis, and reporting to support the identification and development of new clients and the enhancement of existing client relationships
  • Aiding in the execution of cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant Business Development teams
  • Collaborating with lawyers, Business Development, and Brand & Communications teams on speaking opportunities, seminars and sponsorships, webinars, and other visibility initiatives
  • Playing an active role in the integration of lateral partners and the development of junior partners
  • Managing Projects and drafting submissions for legal directories and related industry guides
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Possess a solid foundation of market trends impacting Finance practice areas such as: Banking, Restructuring, Project Finance, Structured Finance, etc.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills, including synthesizing and presenting research data to attorneys and BD Department management
  • Apply knowledge of core business development and marketing principles, including market research, competitive intelligence, internal communications, seminar/event planning, branding, public relations, credentials, and directory submission preparation
  • Display excellent leadership skills i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm

And have:

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible business development and marketing experience in legal/professional services

Pay Range: USD $150,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
