Construction Community Liaison to join our

Community Construction Liaison is responsible and accountable for being the first point of contact for the project by identifying and resolving issues as well as providing regular updates and advisories. Ingenuity!ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Represent IEI as a liaison between the community, intergovernmental agencies and utilities, and the Resident Engineer to ensure the progress of the project by communicating any concerns.
- Perform project area surveys to identify stores, residential buildings, homes, schools, houses of worship, health care institutions, transportation (subway entrances and bus stops), as well as street signage to anticipate any concerns.
- Conduct surveys with homeowners, schools and/or businesses in the area and input the surveys into the database.
- Establish and maintain Neighborhood Notifications and open lines of communication.
- Ensure email distribution lists are established and the public information tool is used for the purpose of creating effective communication.
- Address any anticipated complaints, record the complaints whether they are open or resolved, and report the complaints and actions taken to the Resident Engineer and the agency.
- Track and follow-up on all complaints and send weekly complaint summaries, bi-monthly newsletters, and any other pertinent material to the agency for review.
- Maintain a daily log of Community Outreach efforts and activities, which include meetings, attended coordination of Services and/or disseminated outreach materials.
- Monitor the contractor's required distribution of water and no parking notices to the community within the project area.
- Document the project progress with photos and include the photos in the monthly newsletter.
- Maintain a record of the minutes for all Community Board (CB), Task Force, Progress and any other meetings attended and send a copy to attendees.
- Coordinate the delivery of all essential city services such as; sanitation (SCOP 04-007G), NYPD (towing issues), Access-A-Ride (access issues) Office of Emergency Management (OEM) (access issues, traffic, parking violations), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) (water service shut-off postings by contractor), Department of Health (DOH) (pest control, rodent abatement), Utility companies (access, cut lines, service restoration), Department of Transportation and/or New York Transit Authority (alternate route changes, service interruptions, take one cards, street closings and parking restrictions), Department of Parks and Recreation (Tree Pruning or Removal) and Department of Buildings (access).
- Conduct door to door surveys of each commercial/residential property within the area of water service interruptions when necessary and notify the Resident Engineer of any residents, businesses and properties that need minimal water service interruptions.
- Assist in the distribution and posting of notices and shall secure translations of notices/flyers for use on specific projects from the DDC when indicated.
- Develop, maintain and keep a calendar of significant community events including ethnic/religious festivals, street fairs, marathons, parades, play street closing and block parties and/or celebrations.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Ability to be involved with the community and understand issues or concerns.
- Experience in managing public relations, schedules and community meetings.
- Proven excellence with public interactions and must have strong communication and problem resolution skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthy project zone.
- Extremely organized and detailed oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple requests in a growing company environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with associates, contractors and the public.
- Understanding of notices, agency services, safe zone procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B.S., or B.A.) in Engineering or Construction Management or Business Public Relations and a minimum of five (5) years of experience preferably with NYC Agencies such as NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA and/or NJDOT

Working Conditions:
- IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
- Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
- Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
- Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
- Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
- Usually works in outside weather conditions.
