The Associate Merchant for Household Paper Goods plays a crucial role in driving merchandising initiatives and achieving business objectives. This position offers the opportunity to:
- Collaborate on the creation of sales and margin plans while forecasting sales for your assigned categories.
- Manage open-to-buy positioning and make purchasing decisions for merchandise.
- Engage in direct negotiations with vendors regarding pricing, quantities, delivery, and terms.
- Explore and implement innovative merchandise packaging and presentation techniques to enhance productivity.
- Analyze consumer trends to optimize merchandise mix and develop effective planograms.
- Review advertising and promotion analytics to gauge performance and refine merchandise strategies.
- Execute category pricing strategies and manage exit strategies for underperforming items.
- Research the competitive landscape to ensure strategy alignment and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Offer guidance and support to Merchant Assistants while performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or an operations-related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in merchandising or retail operations.
- Negotiation skills with vendors.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
This position is hybrid, requiring in-office attendance at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA on Tuesday through Thursday, while offering remote work opportunities on Monday and Friday.
In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, the compensation for this role starts at $67,500. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors including location, education, experience, and qualifications.
