Join Amazon Data Services, Inc. as a Data Center Operations Technician and be a vital part of our team that keeps the AWS global infrastructure running smoothly. As a technician, you will be responsible for resolving and troubleshooting various data center infrastructure issues such as hardware, fiber, and networking problems. If you have a solid understanding of IT principles like computer architecture and the OSI model, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will:

  • Engage in physical data center activities including capacity planning, rack deployment, cabling, and troubleshooting.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 49 pounds.
  • Work in various conditions, including tight spaces and elevated locations.
  • Handle standing and walking for up to 8+ hours and safely use ladders and stairs.
  • Support 24/7 operations through varied shifts.

A typical day involves:

  • Taking ownership of technical issues and collaborating with teams for resolution.
  • Demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to problem-solving.
  • Maintaining service level agreements through proactive issue detection.
  • Innovating processes to enhance effectiveness.

This role is located at one of our multiple data center sites. Successful candidates will possess:

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
  • Associate's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with server hardware and 1 year with UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree in an IT-related field.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms like Dell or HP.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA or Network+.
  • Previous data center experience including cable management.
  • Ability to obtain Security+ certification within 90 days of start.
