Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing compassionate, patient-centered care by utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role ensures high-quality care delivery in adherence to established clinical protocols and physician/provider orders while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies and the nursing process.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, accurately document findings, and communicate changes in condition to the care team.
- Provide age-appropriate care and education using knowledge of human growth and development.
- Administer prescribed medications while monitoring for side effects, ensuring documentation aligns with practice standards.
- Assist physicians during procedures, adhering to documented competency and skill levels.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to devise, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Engage in medical emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions as appropriate.
- Advocate for patients' rights and needs, ensuring their preferences are respected in care planning.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care for better understanding and adherence.
- Implement and adhere to infection control protocols to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Monitor and operate medical equipment safely, for example, IV pumps and monitors.
- Promote patient safety by following National Patient Safety Goals and maintaining a clean, secure environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulations and quality standards.
- Exhibit responsible decision-making in care planning and delegation based on patient needs.
- Document all patient care activities thoroughly and promptly in the medical record.
- Engage in professional development to stay abreast of nursing standards and practices.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.
- Critical Care RN:
- Administer complex treatments including intravenous medications.
- Manage advanced medical equipment, ensuring optimal functioning.
- Perform essential procedures like central line insertions and advanced cardiac support.
- Emergency Services RN:
- Conduct rapid assessments and triage patients based on injury severity.
- Perform emergency procedures like intubation and wound care.
- Implement stabilization interventions, including medication administration and respiratory support.
- OR Services RN:
- Provide comprehensive care pre-, intra-, and post-surgery, monitoring patient condition closely.
- Assist in surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment and providing instruments to the surgical team.
- Monitor vital signs and respond to any changes during procedures.
- Cardiac Surgery RN:
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and hemodynamics.
- Administer and adjust medication dosages based on patient conditions post-surgery.
- Proficiently operate life-support equipment and manage post-operative complications.
- Endoscopy RN:
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, ensuring informed consent and comfort.
- Monitor patient condition during procedures and support the physician as needed.
- Educate patients on aftercare following procedures for optimal recovery.
- Obstetrics/Labor and Delivery/Postpartum/Nursery RN:
- Guide patients through pregnancy, labor, and delivery stages with education and support.
- Monitor mothers and newborns post-delivery for any complications.
- Provide pain management and education on postpartum and newborn care.
- Oncology RN:
- Administer chemotherapy, manage side effects, and monitor patient responses.
- Provide emotional and psychological support alongside education regarding treatment options.
- Orthopedics RN:
- Specialize in musculoskeletal care, handling patient education and pain management.
- Conduct assessments and provide care in both pre- and post-operative settings.
- PACU RN:
- Monitor patients post-anesthesia for vital signs and potential complications.
- Administer medications and provide education regarding post-operative care.
- NICU RN:
- Continuously assess and monitor neonates, providing essential medical care.
- Manage feeding and nutritional needs while operating specialized equipment.
- Telemetry RN:
- Use telemetry to monitor cardiac rhythms, analyzing data for abnormalities.
- Provide direct patient care, recognizing emergencies, and implementing interventions.
- Dialysis RN:
- Manage dialysis treatment, monitor patient conditions, and educate on care adherence.
- Cath Lab RN:
- Assist in catheterization procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Monitor patients closely during and post-procedure, administering care as needed.
- Complete other assigned duties and adhere to all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in clinical nursing or completion of student rotations in an acute care setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Licenses and Certifications
- Current RN State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.
- BCLS Certification required.
