Job Description :

LifeLine Ambulance is seeking a strong candidate to join our Collections & Billing Team to interact in a professional manner with patients, customers, coworkers, vendors and other company personnel to help complete collections for our billing department. The Collections Specialist position is responsible for managing the accounts receivable process ensuring timely and accurate recovery of payments from patients, insurance providers, Medicaid, and Medicare. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial health by following up on unpaid claims and balancing patient accounts. The agency responds to approximately 15,000 calls for service annually, requiring a detail-oriented and efficient approach to medical billing collections. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and underpaid accounts.
  • Contact patients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers to resolve unpaid balances.
  • Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice documents.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with patients in accordance with agency policy.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed notes in billing software regarding collection activities.
  • Work collaboratively with billing staff to ensure accuracy of account data and compliance with federal and state billing regulations.
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
  • Comply with HIPAA and all confidentiality standards and laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation: $22-$25/hour depending upon experience Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-6pm This is an in-office based position with no remote work options.   • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess strong computer skills that include knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite programs.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle
  • Familiarity with ambulance or healthcare billing (Medicare/Medicaid/insurance)
  • Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, and billing procedures
  • Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and related laws
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in Medical Billing or Revenue Cycle Management
  • Experience with EMS billing software (e.g., ImageTrend, ESO, Zoll, or similar)
  • Prior collections experience preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
