Job Description :

The Opportunity Join our team as a Donor Support Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in preparing donors and ensuring a safe and efficient pheresis process. You will report directly to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

  • Prepare and set up the autopheresis machine for the pheresis procedure.
  • Monitor donors and the pheresis process, promptly responding to alarms or signals that arise during the procedure.
  • Disconnect donors once the process is complete, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Maintain vigilant awareness of any reactions donors may have during or after the pheresis process, notifying appropriate staff immediately.
  • Utilize a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to document incidents such as machine alerts, volume variances, and any donor adverse events.
  • Link equipment and soft goods used during the pheresis process to respective donors using the PDA.
  • Notify the Group Leader or Supervisor of any donor flow issues that may arise.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Understand the policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs, if applicable to the center.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient workspace, ensuring that operating supplies and necessary forms are readily available.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, promoting safety in all actions.
  • Protect the confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information at all times.
  • Be open to cross-training in different areas to fulfill business needs.
  • Bilingual skills may be beneficial to meet business requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least three (3) months of relevant experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions

  • Understand, remember, and apply both oral and written instructions.
  • Follow basic guidelines accurately.
  • Engage with customers and observe equipment operation effectively.
  • Occasionally stand and walk for extended periods (up to 100% of the time).
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and utilize high manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequently expose to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Willing to work overtime and extended hours as necessary to support operational needs.
