Direct Support Professional
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at a group home serving individuals with developmental disabilities and foster children. The DSP will play a critical role in providing care, support, and supervision to residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily living support, including assistance with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.)
- Help residents develop life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor health and safety needs
- Accompany residents on community outings and appointments
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all residents
- Implement individual support plans and track progress toward goals
- Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
- Document daily activities, incidents, and any changes in resident behavior
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, social workers, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care
- Follow all state regulations, company policies, and procedures for the care and support of individuals with developmental disabilities and foster children
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or foster children (preferred)
- Medication Administration Certification (preferred)
- Compassionate, patient, and responsible attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Must pass a background check and have a valid driver's license
