Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads both students and employers for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The Warehouse Supervisor will creatively assess and meet the warehousing needs of Tidewater Community College, to actively support the College's vision by providing our customers with comprehensive and quality warehousing services, to strive for continual improvement in the receiving, stowage, and distribution process, to ensure timely and economical receipt, stowage, distribution, and disposal of materials and equipment in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. The position supervises and performs duties necessary to operate the college's central warehouse for seven different locations in the Tidewater area; coordinates all activities of a warehouse or several functions of a warehouse, such as fleet management, receiving, shipping, and surplus property, having multiple projects to meet project deadlines and budgets. Supervises the day-to-day operation of the inter-campus and outside mail services for Tidewater Community College in accordance with Federal and Commonwealth laws. This position has been designated an essential position. The employees filling these positions may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college/ campus closure due to weather or other emergent condition(s).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced working knowledge of warehousing which includes receiving, inspecting, storing and issuing equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work schedules and assign equipment and materials to effectively meet the needs of the college.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, policies and programs utilized in a warehouse environment such as proper lifting, stacking, and storing materials.
  • Working knowledge of automated/electronic inventory control system and standard software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel involved in warehousing and inventory tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Certified forklift operator license required.
  • Considerable work experience operating delivery trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, handheld computers, and other material handling equipment.
