Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join the financial team at Orange County Public Schools. This full-time position will be responsible for managing the financial records and transactions for the secondary school, ensuring accuracy and compliance with district policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and administration. Responsibilities - Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries. - Prepare and process financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with school district policies. - Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. - Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. - Monitor budget expenditures and provide financial analysis to support decision-making. - Collaborate with school administrators and staff to ensure proper financial procedures are followed. - Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation as required. - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. - Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices. - Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting or finance preferred. - Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, preferably in an educational setting. - Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices. - Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. - Knowledge of school district financial policies and procedures is a plus. - Background check and clearance required.
