Project Manager – Design-Build Construction

Location: Pilot Mountain, NC

Industry: Commercial / Charter School Construction

A North Carolina-based general contractor with a strong foothold in the design-build market is seeking a Project Manager to join their growing team. With over $40 million in annual revenue and a tight-knit team of 25–30 employees, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality renovations and new builds throughout the Southeast.

This position is office-based in Pilot Mountain, NC, and offers long-term growth potential as the company expands further into the new construction and charter school markets.

About the Role

The Project Manager will oversee day-to-day construction operations for renovation and ground-up commercial projects. Most upcoming work will be within the charter school sector, although prior experience in this space isn't essential. What is essential is a solid design-build background and strong leadership on-site and off.

Tilt-wall construction experience is a plus, as is experience working on larger-scale commercial projects. Ambitious Assistant Project Managers who've managed significant scopes and are ready to step up will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful delivery
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Lead jobsite coordination and weekly project meetings
  • Manage project documentation, contracts, and billing
  • Collaborate with estimating and executive teams on project planning and resource allocation
  • Ensure safety protocols and procedures are enforced on all job sites

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of project management experience in commercial construction
  • Strong design-build project background
  • Experience on tilt-wall projects is a plus
  • Assistant Project Managers with large project exposure will be considered
  • Excellent communication, organization, and team leadership skills
  • Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
