Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party recruiting firm sourcing for a Reno, NV client company's Logistics Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career under new CEO leadership at the organization. The new CEO is quickly and positively impacting the company culture by conducting recent employee surveys, mission and culture statements, hiring a new HR Manager to manage employee relations, and implementing new hours of operation as 7am - 4pm from Mon-Thurs, with half days every Friday from 7am - 12pm across the entire organization.

Position Description

The Logistics Coordinator will report to the recently hired new Global Logistics Manager. The Logistics Coordinator works in transportation or warehouse of lithium batteries, processes orders and oversees cycle of order fulfilment. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for making sure stock and materials are processed through the delivery and/or warehouse system efficiently and safely, and ensures the coordination of 3PL (ocean, rail, trucking freight) is going smoothly.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the shipping of goods from one destination to another
  • Arrange ocean, railway and 3PL transportation and orchestrate deliveries to meet customer demand with little to no delay
  • Coordinate deliveries
  • Takes steps to avoid quality control issues
  • Manages activities throughout the order fulfilment and transportation cycle to make sure established deadlines are met
  • Continually reviews freight costs, transportation rates to keep costs down where possible
  • Streamlines shipping and transportation processes

Requirements and qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or other related field of study is preferred
  • 3 + years of experience in ocean freight logistics coordination is required
  • Supply Chain and Logistics certifications such as APICS, CSCMP, and/or CLT are strongly preferred.
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software / ERP system (preferably Microsoft Navision)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements
  • Solid understanding of logistics processes
  • Should be eager to learn, self-motivated and working in a team
  • Should be sensitive and perform effectively in a multicultural environment.
