Position: Director of Technology – Product Innovation

Position Overview

AT&T's Product Innovation Team seeks a passionate Director of Technology with a strong background in eCommerce, analytical skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. You will lead the product strategy, planning, design, and development of go-to-market products, ensuring successful delivery through agile methodologies, risk management, technical guidance, and quality assurance. A solid technical foundation and management experience overseeing highly technical teams are essential to design modular, scalable web components. Experience leading large cross-organizational software projects from conception to delivery, with expertise in current web and microservice technologies, is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop vision and roadmap with a coherent strategy, including design, user requirements, market assessments, and scalable delivery plans for multiple domains.
• Engage customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to determine business needs, technical considerations, and strategic objectives.
• Communicate product strategy organization-wide and influence senior executives to secure necessary resources.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to deliver strategic and tactical plans.
• Provide technical design and architectural leadership, ensuring application integration and adherence to standards, while maintaining a hands-on engineering role.
• Architect, design, develop, and implement technology solutions across various platforms and technologies.
• Ensure the scalability, resilience, and availability of solutions.
• Own key initiatives within specific domain areas.
• Provide leadership to Associate Directors, Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, and QA teams.
• Enforce company policies on development methodology, architecture, security, change management, and compliance.
• Manage a team of IT professionals, typically with multiple direct reports, totaling 50 or more staff.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 10+ years in engineering or development roles.
• 10+ years in high-volume eCommerce application development.
• 10+ years of experience with web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and REST.
• 8+ years of team leadership and management experience.
• 5+ years of Product Management experience.
• Experience with observability tools like Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Prior experience with digital transformations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Thought leadership and high-quality product development experience.
• Cross-business unit leadership and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with multi-tenant, multi-channel eCommerce platforms.
• Expertise in asynchronous messaging, stream processing, and event-driven computing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences.

Our Director of Technology earns between $191,400 and $287,200 USD annually, depending on experience, expertise, and location.
