The Dean of the Wilder Library and Learning Resources role is responsible for overseeing all operations, services, and strategic initiatives of the library. The Dean is charged with advancing the library's role as a dynamic academic, technological, and cultural hub that supports the learning, teaching, and research mission of the University. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight of all functions of the Wilder Library and its learning resource services, including collections, reference services, information literacy, academic support technologies, and archives.
- Develop and execute a long-term vision for the library that aligns with the University's mission, academic priorities, and strategic plan.
- Foster a student-centered, inclusive, and technologically advanced learning environment that supports student success, faculty research, and community engagement.
- Collaborate with academic leadership, faculty, IT, and other departments to promote integration of library resources in curriculum development and instructional delivery.
- Lead and manage a team of professional librarians, staff, and student employees, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee budget development, fiscal management, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and equitable operations.
- Ensure compliance with national accreditation standards and best practices in library science and higher education.
- Pursue grants, partnerships, and fundraising opportunities to enhance library resources, programming, and facilities.
- Expand access to digital resources, online databases, interlibrary loan services, and research tools that promote academic innovation.
Education
- Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in an academic library, including 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
