Plant Controller Opportunity At Tarkett

Tarkett has a great opportunity for a Plant Controller for our Northeast Ohio Campus.

Tarkett is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller for the Northeast Ohio Campus who will be responsible for the financial oversight of plant activities in Chagrin Falls and Middlefield related to accounting, budgeting, product costing, plant operating costs, and other related matters. As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the Plant Controller will need to collaborate on executing strategies for growth and enhanced profitability, maximizing cost savings and ensuring attainment of business goals. This role will report directly to the VP of Finance, Commercial with a strong dotted line to the Senior Director of Operations, Ohio Campus.

What this role will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organizing, and managing accurate financial accounting and internal control processes of the manufacturing facility.
  • Tracking all direct and indirect costs related to the plants.
  • Reviewing accuracy of manufacturing order costing.
  • Ensuring strong control, completeness and accuracy of inventory (at the plant and all third party warehouses/locations) and inventory movements.
  • Reviewing and calculating inventory obsolescence.
  • Ensuring control and accuracy of fixed assets.
  • Supporting the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities for World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
  • Planning annual costs/expenses and capital expenditure budgets including preparing economic cost studies for plant investments.
  • Timely and accurate closing of the books each month and related financial reporting (month end accruals, account analysis, scorecards, forecasting, variance analysis and productivity action plans monitoring).
  • Providing financial review and support to Management.
  • Providing analysis and recommendation on improving efficiency, including on new business, equipment and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Ensuring an effective and efficient system of internal controls including; data integrity, asset protection, segregation of duties, information systems and adherence to corporate policies. Reviewing and auditing internal control procedures.
  • Leading the coordination of all plant internal and external financial and operational audits and addressing any audit findings with plant and divisional leadership.
  • Maintaining and developing database queries and advanced Microsoft Excel reports.
  • Working closely with the Senior Director Operations on various initiatives.

Experience & Education Desired:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 8+ years of finance/accounting experience, including experience in a manufacturing setting required.
  • 3+ years of Cost Accounting experience required.
  • MBA, CMA, CPA preferred.
  • SAP and Power BI experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of corporate finance and manufacturing costing principles, including an ability to link and analyze plant operational metrics to financial performance and communicate effectively such findings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities including the ability to motivate, lead by example, and encourage teamwork and effective communication.
