About the Role: As a Fleet Mechanic I with MYR Group, you will utilize your skills to perform safe and professional maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment. This position is part of a union and is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. All candidates must be willing to join IBEW 1393 upon hire.

Essential Functions:

  • This is an entry-level position. Under the guidance of senior mechanics, perform minor servicing and repairs on various equipment types, identifying malfunctioning parts and systems while adhering to manufacturer guidelines and company schedules.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Identify mechanical problems through visuals and diagnostics.
  • Maintain records of time, materials used, and repairs performed.
  • Utilize computer software to track information, ensuring repair orders and weekly timesheets are accurate and complete.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare necessary documentation.
  • Adhere to DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations and other required rules and regulations.
  • Engage in training programs to update safety skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair, or one year of experience in heavy truck, automotive, or equipment repair.
  • Able to operate company vehicles and equipment, possessing the necessary licenses.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
  • Effective communication to discuss with employees, read orders and work instructions, and maintain accurate daily logs.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Experience using mechanical tools, materials, and testing equipment.
  • Understanding of vehicle and equipment design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to adhere to safety rules and guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable regulatory guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to reach, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, and kneel during repairs and inspections.
  • Ability to lift medium weights, up to 50 pounds occasionally, and maintain physical activity alternatives.
  • Able to perform work both indoors in a controlled environment and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and vibrations.

Upon recommendation from an immediate supervisor, approval by the VP of Fleet, and demonstrated proficiency, you may advance to the next classification level based on position availability.

What We Offer:

  • This is a union position with wages based on experience and certifications. Salary is $35.24/hour.
