To accession surgical samples, make cassettes from surgical samples, cuts and stains intraoperative consults, grosses and dictates descriptions of simple tissue specimens, organizes and stores specimens, and disposal of specimens. Education & Experience. Education and Experience:Associates Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology. Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: N/ A - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Manual dexterity and adaptability are essential. Effective communication, time management and basic keyboarding skills are necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES - Identifies, orients, describes, dictates, and dissects simple tissue specimens. Operates microtome in a cryostat. Cuts and stains frozen sections. Logs specimens into computer database and labels cassettes for staff and residents.
