DescriptionThe position will conduct investigations and financial analysis to assist with enforcement of the tobacco Master Settlement Agreement and related Nebraska tobacco laws.   • Review and analyze documents, data, and other materials produced to, or obtained by, the Attorney General, including corporate records, financial statements, tax filings, and other confidential or proprietary materials;
  • Develop processes to collect and organize data provided on a recurring basis by regulated parties;
  • Synthesize pertinent facts and identify relevant issues from large amounts of information and data;
  • Conduct investigations into possible violations of relevant laws, regulations, and contractual agreements;
  • Prepare investigative reports, memoranda, and/or affidavits pertaining to all aspects of the analysis and investigation, which may be used in court;
  • Work and confer with other employees in the Consumer Protection Division, including Assistant Attorneys General;
  • Collaborate with state and federal law enforcement agencies in the investigation of related matters;
  • Provide objective and credible testimony in state and federal court;
  • Draft correspondence to the public and represented parties;
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding ongoing investigations and other matters not subject to public disclosure.
Requirements/ QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, criminal justice or a related field.Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting financial audits or analyst experience with an organization engaged primarily in regulatory oversight. Holds or is willing to obtain CFE or similar certification.Other: Applicant accepting a job offer must pass a background check.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMaintains and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and the ability to communicate effectively with others. Must be dependable, focused, detail-oriented, and accurate in their work.
