Major Responsibilities: Menu Selections and Communication 1)Answers room service phone calls to obtain menu selections from patients and/or patients families. 2)Communicates special patient needs to dietitians. Processing Diet Orders 1)Follows physician's diet orders for all patients 2)Updates and maintains accurate patient card files in computer. 3)Adheres to specific standards for diets when entering selections into computer or in modifying and checking menus. 4)Ensure meal tickets are in compliance with diet orders, allergies and proper identifier on the meal tickets. 5)Updates and maintains nourishment orders to ensure diet orders are met. Communication 1)Communicates between nursing, host/hostess, and kitchen staff in order to clarify orders and provide prompt service. 2)Communicates special patient needs to dietitians. Other 1)Upholds Advocate Trinity Hospital's Service Commitment through equality, compassion, excellence, partnership and stewardship. 2)Uses courtesy and respect in all interactions with managers, co-workers, patients, staff and visitors. 3)Responds positively to all requests. Utilizes proper phone etiquette and scripting when speaking to patients. 4)Maintains professional image and follows department dress code policy. 5)Performs additional miscellaneous duties, communicating status to supervisor Training/Inservices/Meetings 1)Assists with training of other employees 2)Attends scheduled inservices and meetings. Education/Experience Required: • High School diploma or GED. 6mos-1yr experience in hospitality industry Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Ability to speak, read and write English clearly and proficiently, as related to essential job activities • Computer skills • Knowledge of medical terminology (T.I.D., B.I.D., etc.) • Math skills: conversions of oz, cc, ml • Ability to communicate effectively N/A Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Flexible work hours between 5:00 A.M. and 8:30 P.M. including weekends and holidays. • Limited exposure to hazardous conditions. • Safety and sanitation when in kitchen. • Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously especially during high patient volumes. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent. Pay Range $19.45 - $29.20
