As a Cook, you will carry out our Mission of Love by providing the best quality dining service, through continuous training, to maintain an enjoyable dining experience for our residents in a clean, healthy, and safe environment.Our Cook is responsible for the following:
  • Provides an enjoyable dining experience for our residents while maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment. Reports upon first notice any environmental situation which could pose a threat to the safety or well-being of the Masonic Village Residents.
  • Uses chemicals, cleaning agents, and equipment safely and effectively to accomplish assigned tasks in accordance with food safety regulations established by federal, state, local and private accreditation organizations. Uses best practices related to the safe and sanitary handling, preparation, storage, and service of foods, including proper hand washing, wearing gloves, changing gloves frequently, maintaining a clean uniform, sanitizing work surfaces and tools between uses, proper dating, labeling, and rotation of food products. Monitors, maintains, and documents temperatures for food and for refrigerator / freezer units. Reports out of range temperatures to supervisor upon first notice.
  • Completes dining services duties in a timely manner as assigned by supervisor in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. Responsible for overseeing the preparation and cooking of all food items to the highest quality standards. Responsible for monitoring meals and to take appropriate corrective actions in response to identified irregularities in flavor, appearance, temperature of food products. Return disposal of food waste in safe and hygienic manner.
  • Uses dining equipment in a safe and effective manner as trained by supervisor. Performs routine minor equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure all equipment remains in a clean and operable condition. Recognizes and reports upon first notice any equipment or environmental condition that needs corrective action or preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for producing forecasted amounts utilizing Production Worksheets, using corrective recipe for consistency, and monitoring and recording temperatures for all food served. Documents amounts prepared and leftover to support in the management and ordering of foods.
  • Responsible for supervision of Food Services staff in the absence of Dietary Management.
What You Have:
  • Two years of related experience required.
  • Associates degree or certificate in culinary arts issued by an accredited culinary school preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in place of degree or certificate where applicable.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and therapeutic and mechanically altered diets required. Strong knowledge of sanitation practices and food services regulations preferred.
  • Experience preparing a wide variety of foods, including soups, sauces, and gravies preferred
  • Good written, oral, organizational, and basic computer skills.
