Ingenuity! What You'll Do *Works under the general guidance and direction of a Resident Engineer. *Reviews field staking and makes revisions within the scope of authority. *Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installation using the surveyor's level. *Coordinates activities and schedules with utility companies, contractors, property owners, and other agencies. *Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures and materials conform to plans, specifications, and contract documents. *Records quantities of material received. *Examines quality of finished installations for conformity to industry standards. *Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of installation. *Maintains daily reports of construction activities and performs filing duties. *Takes progress photos of the construction activities. *Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into as-built drawings. *Performs work following safety policies and procedures. *Handles complaints either personally or by referring to the Resident Engineer. *Responsibilities may include an entire project or may focus on one specific project area. To Be Successful *Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and 8+ years experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited college or university and 6+ years experience preferred. *Knowledge of industry Standards and Specifications for different agencies. *Knowledge of OSHA requirements: personal and workers' safety. *Knowledge of MOT Standards and Erosion Control Measures. *Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public. *Considerable skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents. *Skill in applying material testing procedures. *Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field and office data. *Ability to effectively communicate technical information, orally and in writing, professionally to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, governmental agency representatives, and the general public. *Ability to operate a personal computer, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams). *Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three years. - IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
- Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
- Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
- Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
- Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
- Usually works in outside weather conditions.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
