Responsibilities: Design and implementation of database management systems; Query processing (joins, sorting, aggregation, optimization); Parallel computer architecture and programming; Design, implementation, and use of storage systems: individual storage devices, OS, database; Distributed systems: locking, concurrency, scheduling and communication across the network; Networking principles, and advanced real-world data networks; Compiler internals and optimization; Interaction and implementation of operating systems; System coding in C/C++, GO and Java; and High performance computing.
