Job Description: The Supply Chain Human Resources (“HR”) Generalist role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for executing the strategy to achieve HR goals in OSJL's Distribution Center (“DC”), Transportation Department, and Food Services Department. The Supply Chain HR Generalist role works across the HR department to ensure that HR policies, programs, services and resources are delivered consistently. This role prioritizes and carries out responsibilities in alignment with overall goals and priorities of the Company, Supply Chain leadership, and the HR department. Key Responsibilities:
- Implement OSJL learning programs and projects in collaboration with other teams within the HR Department.
- Research, evaluate and interpret current and emerging HR and labor relations trends and issues within the supply chain industry. Develop proposals and strategic recommendations to mitigate risk.
- Build strong relationships with Associates and leaders to foster a positive work environment.
- Build and maintain “We R Listening” programs throughout the DC, Transportation, and Food Services departments.
- Plan and execute Associate engagement activities.
- Ensure consistent delivery of HR policies, programs, services and resources within the following functional areas: organizational and professional development, wellness, associate labor relations, engagement, and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as Company standards.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of their role, particularly when dealing with sensitive Associate matters.
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract and hire top talent. Participate in college and professional recruiting events.
- Address Associate inquiries regarding compensation and benefits.
- Manage the onboarding process for new hires by, without limitation, processing all paperwork, leading orientations, and conducting training.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Associate records in the HR information system platform.
- Generate reports and analyze HR data to identify trends and insights.
- Proactively engage with Associates in the Cafeteria, in the Distribution Center, and in the Transportation department (i.e., transportation yard, transportation administrative offices, driver lobby, and driver lounge) to build relationships, understand challenges, and anticipate and address issues. Provide on-the-spot support and strategic guidance to leaders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Education, Communications or related field is preferred.
- 3 or more years of HR related experience is required.
- 1 or more years of professional experience in supply chain or related industry is preferred.
- PHR/SHRM-CP Certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with compensation structures such as mileage pay, hourly wages, per diem, and performance bonuses is required.
- Possess a basic understanding of logistics and operations in a distribution, warehouse, and transportation supply chain environment.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English and Spanish is required.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to the distribution center environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, or electrical components.
- The warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, moderate noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, as well as other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
- Sedentary and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
- Position may require a consistent presence on the warehouse floor throughout the workday. May require walking for extended periods.
- Flexible schedules may be required during peak business seasons or based on business needs (e.g., hours before 9 am and after 5 pm in order to overlap with different shifts as well as accommodate weekend work).

#INDCorp The annual salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $70,000.00. Salary is commensurate with years of experience.
