We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team. The role will be responsible for providinggeneral bookkeeping and other duties related to financial responsibilities of church assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Record Financial Transactions:

Enter weekly contributions to general fund, building fund, special funds, and donor designated funds.

Maintains contribution records including pledges and preparing contribution

statements and mail them on a quarterly basis.

Processes and records all electronic credit card contributions.

Records all financial transactions in a confidential manner updated on a weekly basis using an electronic database system (Power Church).

After recording transactions, assign them to the right categories in the churchs budget.

Enter all invoices approved by the board for payment, cut checks, submit to treasurer for signature, and prepare for mailing.

Process and track bills from suppliers and ensures correct payment schedule.

Process Payroll and Manages Invoices/Bills:

Process paying employees, including calculating wages and withholdings

Files all required federal and state deposits and reports in a timely manner.

Processes and maintains payroll records, maintaining confidentiality.

Prepares and files all payroll reports, including quarterly and year-end tax reports, and annual W2's and 1099's.

Assures that all funds are reported and maintained separately as to operating, designated, restricted (temporary and permanent), capital, and others.

Reconciles and maintains bank statements for all cash and investment accounts.

Maintains all church accounts and prepares monthly and year-end financial reports.

Collaborates with Ministry Chairs and other leadership in the preparation of the annual operating budget.

Prepares for filing of federal, state, corporate, and denominational reports.

Provides information to Ministry Chairs and other leadership as needed.

Other Assigned Duties:

Trains and assists money counters with procedures as needed.

Calendars, calculates and prepares invoices, and maintains records for short-term rentals.

Maintains and executes tax-exempt transaction certificates.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, QuickBooks and specific fund-based accounting software, like Power Church.

Excellent attention to detail and precision in account reconciliation and report generation.

Commitment to confidentiality regarding all account records pertaining to the Church staff and membership, including, but not limited to members personal data, Pastor and staff correspondence, appointments, salary and payroll records

Reliable, works independently as well as part of a team, and self-motivated.

Strong organizational skills.

Job Definitions

Job Status: Part-time (6 hours/week)

Reports to: Pastor (Head of Staff)

Works with: Treasurer, Staff, Board, etc.

Compensation: Hourly Rate commensurate with experience, paid bi-weekly

Vacation: 1 week, available after first 3 months, prorated in first year, unused does not carry over, resets at the beginning of each calendar year.

Sick pay: Policy in accordance with New Mexico law

Screening: Subject to criminal background check
