The Metro Transit Police Department is seeking a dedicated Supervisor within the Police Communications unit to oversee two-way radio communication between officers, officials, and partnering police and fire agencies.
In this pivotal role, you will manage vital emergency communication systems including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio networks, and criminal justice information systems (CJIS). You'll also conduct essential training to ensure swift, accurate responses during emergencies, special events, holidays, and adverse weather conditions; all while supporting a 24/7 operation.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate (GED) and an associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Police Science, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in police dispatching or a related police field with demonstrated knowledge of CAD/RMS systems, state criminal justice computer systems, and police radio equipment, to include interoperability capabilities with local jurisdictions. Three (3) years of experience in police training, management, or a supervisory position over these systems will be considered.
Certification/Licensure: Must attend training to attain and maintain certifications from Maryland and Washington, DC which allows access to criminal justice databases (WALES and METERS). A passing score on the tests issued by each jurisdiction is required for initial certification and bi-annual recertification to remain a valid user of the system.
