The position of Groundskeeper is a 12-month full-time hourly position that will include some overtime when necessary. Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, Groundskeepers play a key role in shaping the daily experience of students, faculty, and visitors by maintaining the safety, functionality, and beauty of the school's outdoor spaces, including athletics fields, walkways, and landscaped areas. This is a hands-on, team-based role for individuals who take pride in their work and understand how a well-kept campus contributes to a thriving school community.Regular working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flexibility is essential, as occasional overtime or evening/weekend work may be required for large-scale, all-community events, snow removal, athletics, or weather-related campus needs.If you enjoy physical, purposeful work in a team setting and want to contribute to the mission of a premier K-12 school, we want to meet you.ResponsibilitiesMaintain athletics fields, including grass and synthetic turf surfaces, by mowing, trimming, fertilizing, aerating, painting field lines, and setting up athletics equipment.Care for and maintain tennis courts and surrounding athletics grounds.Support seasonal landscaping tasks, including weeding, planting, mulching, pruning, and general beautification of campus grounds.Perform minor hardscape repairs such as walkway patching, sidewalk edging, and asphalt maintenance.Operate and maintain grounds equipment (e.g., mowers, tractors, spreaders, UTVs) and assist with scheduling preventative maintenance.Participate in snow and ice removal efforts, including shoveling, salting, and operating plows and snow blowers as needed.Support campus operations by assisting with event setup, traffic flow, and general outdoor logistical needs.Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment and follow all safety procedures.QualificationsRequired:High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license.Ability to walk, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.Comfortable working in all weather conditions and outdoor environments.Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude.Preferred but not required:Prior experience in landscaping, athletics field care, or groundskeeping.Familiarity with operating and maintaining equipment such as:Lawn mowers, string trimmers, blowers, spreaders, and utility vehicles.Tractors, trenchers, and backhoes (a plus).Knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, or field line painting.Comfort working in a school, athletics, or campus setting.We encourage candidates with military service, trade school training, or previous experience in parks, golf courses, athletics facilities, or large-property maintenance to apply.
