PLEASE NOTE: This is a provisional competitive Civil Service position. The selected candidate must be currently appointed to a Competitive Family Center Support Coordinator position or will be hired provisionally and be required to take the next scheduled Family Center Support Coordinator test and be reachable on that list. Duties/Responsibilities: To evaluate, coordinate, and provide resources and services to strengthen protective factors that influence children, youth, families, and members of the community. The coordinator will work to strengthen and develop family systems in partnership with public and private agencies, and to ensure that all students are supported on their path to full-time school attendance. Responsibilities:
  • The Coordinator is responsible for creating inclusive and equitable services and programs and promoting a welcoming and safe atmosphere in which diverse identities and perspectives are valued, respected, and supported at all levels.
  • Effectively lead and oversee the day-to-day operations and expansion of the family support center.
  • Plan, develop, and implement policies, procedures and objectives for the Family Support Center in collaboration with community stakeholders and the Director of Student Services.
  • Coordinate home instruction and related services provided to WCSD students in grades 5 to 12.
  • Collaborate with families and school personnel to develop reentry plans that ensure a smooth transition back to school.
  • Coordinate and facilitate community offerings to ensure inclusive and accessible services, holistic wellness programs, access to resources and referrals, community engagement, education, and a safe space for culturally sensitive and trauma-informed support.
  • Responsible for data collection and reporting on Center activities as directed.
  • Participate in and attend professional development opportunities designed to grow the mission of the family support center.
  • Promote a comprehensive awareness program to assure that the public is familiar with the family support center's responsibilities and services.
  • Organizes the center in a manner that will ensure accessibility to families
  • Provide oversight to the WCSD food pantry.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal expectations communicated through federal and state laws, administrative procedures, regulations, and WCSD Board of Education policies.
  • Plan and execute training activities for staff, faculty, and families.
  • Participate in regional networking and training opportunities with other family support centers and Western New York.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with all other area service agencies.
  • Liaison with community agencies and service providers,
  • Develop additional partnerships and resources as needed by the community
  • Coordinates and assists in staff selection,
  • Adhere to proper accounting procedures in purchasing, booking, and budgeting.
  • To seek and procure donations and grant funding to ensure operational needs are met,
  • Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in family studies, social work, education, or a closely related field with a minimum of four years of experience in human services. Other desired qualifications including, but not limited to:
  • Successful prior leadership experience preferred
  • Experience working with families and students in a school setting is strongly desired.
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Understanding of collaborative approaches to supporting students and families.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with community and business leaders.
  • Possesses grant writing skills.
  • Experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and awareness.
