Come join our Community Planning and Development team at the City of Issaquah! We are looking for a dynamic individual to serve our residents at the front counter in City Hall. The successful candidate in this position will perform routine clerical duties including word processing, typing, filing and maintaining records. Incumbents sort, open, and distribute mail, answer phones, prepare correspondence, and provide information. Job duties are of a moderate scope and complexity. - Performs a variety of routine and/or confidential clerical work including filing, billing, and checking and recording information on records; sorts and files documents and records; maintains alphabetical, index, and cross-reference files; receives, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Acts as a receptionist; answers the telephone and waits on the public, gives information on department policies and procedures as required; issues, receives and processes various applications, purchase orders, and other forms; responds to complaints and requests for information.
- Types and proofreads a variety of documents including reports, memos, and statistical charts from verbal direction, rough draft forms, copy, notes or transcriptions; operates office equipment.
- Compiles information and data for statistical and financial reports; maintains a variety of statistical records; checks and tabulates statistical data; prepares simple statistical reports; performs record keeping for various funds and expenditures.
- Orders office supplies; submits expense claims; maintains inventory records and information logs.
- Provides exceptional customer service.
- Responsible for mailing land use notices in accordance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
- Coordinates the review process for business licenses.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school, or equivalency; and
- One (1) year of progressively responsible office and administrative support experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

- Modern office practices, procedures and equipment including personal computers and related software such as word processing and spreadsheet programs.
