We're currently hiring a Part Time Desk Attendant at Spinnaker Point Recreation Center to help create a welcoming and friendly environment for our guests. Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00pm-8:00pm (additional evening shifts and coverage at other recreation sites may be available) Hours: 8-12 hours per week Pay rate: $14.00 per hour We encourage you to apply even if you don't satisfy every single bullet on this list. NATURE OF WORK The Part-Time Desk Attendant for the City of Portsmouth's Recreation Department provides support services forSpinnaker Point.Incumbentwill greet and interact with members and guests as they enter and exit the facility, accept payments for memberships anddaily fees along with entering and updating members using Spinnaker Points database.Explaining, promoting, andregistering members andguests for various programs, classes, and activities. Customer serviceincludes, but not limited to,answering phones, in-personinquiriesand providing tours of the facility. SUPERVISION Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Director, Assistant RecreationDirector, Spinnaker Point Manager, or their designee. Incumbentplans and carries out daily work with a degree of independence andteamwork. Performance is subject to review according to the City's personnel plan through observation, reports and the results achieved. Greet all members andcustomers with a positive attitude. 2. Ensure members signin upon arrival. 3. Utilize database tocollect fees formembership, classes, and rentals. 4. Provide a detailed facilitytour to potential members. 5. Maintain equipment andreport any safety issues/concernsto manager. 6. Test indoor pool andhot tub. 7. Maintain records andenforcing rules, regulations, and safety of facility. 8. Ability to work wellwith the public, listen to all concerns members may have or need. 9. Interact and engage with members to create and foster community relationships. 10. Responds appropriatelyto inquiries and/or complaints from the public in a timely and courteous manner by bringing them to the Spinnaker Point Manager. 11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES An incumbent in this position consistently demonstrates a(n)... 1.Excellent communication and verbal skills. 2. Answering inquiries and providing information on memberships, classes, and rentals. Contacts occur in person, in writing, by email and on the telephone. 4. Knowledge of basic computer skills. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with the general public, City staff, and government officials at all levels. ENVIRONMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT Primary duties of this position involve: communicating accurately and effectively with members of the publicand staff on a variety of center related items. This includes responding to inquiries and complaints and providing information. Work is performed in an open office setting which can be somewhat noisy. Current position includes some limited physical requirements including transportinggym materials, reports, and office supplies weighing up to 25pounds and accessing file cabinets to organize paperwork. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Candidate must have ahigh school diploma or equivalent. Customer service, basic computer skills, and/or an interest in recreation and/or fitness is desired.
