Main Focus:
  • Ensures that the products of operations and the material resources to achieve conformity of products meet both our internal specifications and customer specifications in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001 requirements.
Accountabilities:
  • Supports operations by completing in-process and finished product quality testing
  • Enables data analysis and process improvement by quality data collection
  • Maintains and assures the conformity of laboratory testing equipment
  • Performs additional duties to support the quality and regulatory requirements
Responsibilities:
  • Conducts chemical analysis on raw material samples, in-process samples, and finished production goods following Quality Control Test methods. Completes day to day routine testing
  • Analyze assay composition and impurity levels using various wet chemical and instrumental techniques, including titration, gas chromatography, and infrared spectroscopy
  • Analyzes samples for additional required testing including water content, chloride, % tert-butyl hydroperoxide, total acid, pH, color, specific gravity, suspended solids, melting point, flash point, and conductivity
  • Performs housekeeping duties throughout the day and prior to leaving shift, including inventorying
  • Performs standardization of volumetric solutions, when necessary, and standard calibration for instrumental methods
  • Assists the Total Quality Manager with other duties needed to cover absences and increased workload demands
  • Prepares routine customer samples for shipment in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Collects and records analytical data for process control and improvement
  • Participates in activities related to ISO quality certification, including documented recordkeeping, documentation review, and external and internal compliance audits
  • Performs quality related calculations for adjustments, cuts, and dilutions for production
  • Works efficiently and with regard to all prescribed safety guidelines and rules
  • Participate in plant safety and quality improvement programs
  • Support ISO 9001, 14001, and Responsible Care Programs
Requirements:
  • Professional Training: 2-year associate degree in chemistry or related field or two years of similar laboratory experience working with hazardous chemicals. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry is preferred
  • Certifications required: None
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Computer skills are required including general use of Microsoft office and SAP
  • The ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment which include safety glasses/goggles, hard hat, lab coat, gloves, safety shoes
  • Be able to lift and carry 5-10 lbs on an occasional basis, at times be able to lift 30 lbs
  • Other skills needed for this position include the ability to follow documented procedures for testing, data reporting, and safety practices
  • Pass employment physical including ability to stand (over 50% of day), overhead reach, walk, push, stoop, climb, crouch, kneel, pull, shovel, hear, talk, see, grasp, sit, and carry
