Engineering Technician III- GDIT

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT)

Full-Time | On-Site | Security Clearance Required

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team supporting critical operations. This role requires hands-on expertise in mechanical systems operation, maintenance, and repair in a secure government environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform operation and preventative maintenance on complex mechanical systems

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, high-pressure air systems, and various valve types

  • Maintain and service diesel engines and associated support systems

  • Operate and maintain compressor systems

  • Interpret mechanical drawings and schematics accurately

  • Utilize precision instruments including micrometers, depth gauges, and torque wrenches

  • Perform adjustment and calibration of mechanical systems within specified design tolerances

  • Execute quality assurance practices including procedural compliance, inspections, testing, and certification

  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Secret security clearance required (or ability to obtain)

  • 3-5 years of related mechanical technician experience

  • Proficiency with mechanical drawings and schematics

  • Experience with precision measurement instruments

  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and procedures

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of rigging materials and techniques

  • Overhead crane operation experience

  • Small boat operations experience

  • Forklift operation certification

  • Previous experience in government/defense environments

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $28.05 - $37.95. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
