Job Description The Sr. Manager, Events will lead in the planning, coordination and execution of assigned client-facing, internal events, Department and Practice Group Retreats. The role includes identifying project requirements, researching vendors and venues, managing the budget, coordinating with Creative and CRM, setting up on-site registration/check-in process and supervising junior events team members on day of event.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions: - Lead the assigned Practice Group and Department Retreats including managing the budget, compiling rooming lists, coordinating food & beverage at the hotel and off-site venues, and managing the destination management company and other vendors needed for the retreats.
- Assist Director of Events with the Annual Partner Meeting held in the NY office every year.
- Coordinate business development events including golf outings, ski trips, receptions and closing dinners throughout the year.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments on events held on site at our offices.
- Align event strategy with business development goals and firm priorities.
- Coordinate, plan and execute events for the internal department and practice group events held throughout the year at restaurants and venues in NY.
- Manage vendor and venue relationships while keeping up to date on new restaurants and activity options
- Mentor the junior members of the Events team to enhance and increase their knowledge of best practices and event planning skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Minimum 8-10 years event planning experience in legal, corporate or professional services firm.
- Management experience mentoring junior staff. Willingness to share industry and event knowledge and experience with the more junior members of the team.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple events under extremely stressful situations and deadlines
- Detail-oriented with exceptional project management skills.
- Independent worker who takes initiative and exhibits excellent time management skills.
- Communicate effectively and professionally across all levels of the firm, from mentoring junior event staff to advising and engaging with the firm's partners and our high profile clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate seamlessly with junior members of the events team, other internal departments, associates, partners and firm leadership as well as external clients.
- Exhibits grace under pressure remaining calm, focused and organized while dealing with last-minute changes, challenging situations and circumstances beyond our control.
- Strong writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Exhibits innovative, thoughtful and sound judgment in problem solving and relationship management.
- Experience using databases to support business development activities.
Education/Certifications: - Bachelors' degree or equivalent in Hospitality, Communications or related areas.
Estimated salary range is $160,000 - $180,000. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
