About the RoleProvides individual, group, and classroom support to students.Supports building and district-wide behavior initiatives.Assists students in learning social skills and developing appropriate peer relations.Collaborates with school staff.Participates as a member of the district-wide Crisis Intervention Team and the ELPS Mental Health Advisory Committee.Supports the implementation of a social-emotional identification, screening and referral process for elementary school students.Provides social work evaluations and services to students suspected to have a disability or to special education students through the referral or Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET).Provides pre-referral consultation to teachers and administrators regarding students with behavioral and/or adjustment problems as needed.Attends MET and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.Oversees the implementation of 504 plans.Education, Knowledge and Skills RequiredMaster's degree from a graduate school of social work program approved by the State Board of Education.Must have attained a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with State of Michigan licensure.Demonstrated capabilities in report writing, evaluation, and interview procedures.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary group.Ability to meet deadlines for reports, forms, and required paperwork.Demonstrated commitment to professional growth.Ability and desire to work with a diverse student body with a commitment to providing a positive experience for students and their families regardless of race, culture, creed, religion, handicapping condition, social-economic status, gender.About UsWhy Join ELPSEast Lansing Public Schools, home of Michigan State University (MSU) and a neighbor to the state capital, is seeking a dynamic individual to work in our highly diverse school district.
